About Tungsten Carbide Blades

Product quality has a lot difference meanings and perceptions around the term. Here we want to focus on the inert characteristics of tungsten carbide and what we can do to have you gain advantage;
- Hardness as its sought after asset as that increases blade life and with it sinks change over costs. We manage hardness and consistency of it by our heat treatment equipment and selection of raw materials.
The hardness of tungsten carbide ensures a formidable resistance to wear. From testing different operations, we provide you with data from cutting different materials;

- Slitting PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film. Blade life for a carbon streel razor blade is 20 hours. The life of tungsten blades of the same dimensions is 200 hours (about 1 week 1 and a half days).
- Cutting Carbon Fiber, a carbon steel razor blade will cut for 1 hour. This same blade, coated with Tin (Titanium Nitride) coating will last 3 hours. A tungsten carbide blade will last 18 hours.

- Cutting Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polyurethane Composites. A carbon steel blade lasts 4500 centimeters (about 147.64 ft), a tungsten carbide blade 13,000.
- Slitting TPO (Thermoplastic Polyofin) film. A carbon blade will last 8 hours in this operation, a Tin coated version will hold 30 hours, whereas a Tungsten Carbide blade will last 4 times as long, 120 hours (about 5 days).

A characteristic of the metal to reckon with is its brittleness.

The brittleness we can adjust to customer requirements for a small part. However, we advise to keep these factors in mind when choosing for hard metal blades as part of your manufacturing processes.
Requirements for the best performance of hard metal blades are;

- Constant force on the material to be cut on the blade. Try to reduce swanks in force, (like waves or jolts of the machine).
- Keep force on the side of the blade to a minimum and constant as possible.
The raw materials we use ensure a very dense and heavy blade. These raw materials always come directly from the mines and are not recycled. The latter is not bad, however there is a lot of mixing of materials going on and nobody is regulating this activity.

If you choose to work with recycled materials, for example out of environmental motives, we can help you select recycled metal which is pure and contamination free. We guarantee the pureness and process. We can work with discounted prices for you if you choose to return used tungsten carbide blades.

The standard we use is 92 HRC, this is among the hardest in the business and measurable.
